STRANDED PORT BOWEN

HIGH TIDE MOVEMENT MOVE TO STOP SWING (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. The stranded liner Port Bowen, which moved 150 ft. in a southerly direction, along 'the beach on Monday night, moved a further 16ft. last night at high tide. To-day the stern of the steamer was swinging from the shore outward, a distance of at least 2Cft. Preparation is being made to fix a long heavy coble from the stern to the shore in a 'northerly direction so as to step the swinging of the steamer and, if possible, prevent further movement down the coast. About 15ft. of sand has been deposited between 'he Port Bowen end the beach.
