After sittings lasting tor seven hours in all in connection with the election of a new general in place of General Evangeline Booth, the high council' of the Salvation Army meeting at Clapton adjourned till to-mor-row.
To-day’s deliberations were concerned chiefly with. matters of procedure and the appointment of committees, and an official communique stated: “The business was dealt with in the true spirit of harmony and goodwill.”
Strict precautions 'have been taken to ensure complete secrecy while the ballot is 4n progress. Not until one nominee lias received a two-thirds majority can the council complete its task.
The last election, of General Eva.r, gelinc 'Booth lasted over six days.
