AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRY

The Federal Arbitration Court today laid down the principle that in general a 44-hour working week should' be the standard lor Australian industry. Union secretaries say only a lew isolated groups already work more than 44 hours, but the court’s decision will affect the maritime industry, in Which seagoing workers average 50 hours.'
