Hugh Twidle, aged 47 years, Glen Eden, was found wandering along Lome street, City, early last night. He was taken by two passers-by to a St. John Ambulance station and on ‘ the way to the hospital he told a constable he had been assaulted by three men unknown to him. It is said that they asked him to walk with them to the corner of Lome and Rutland streets - and; as they halted on the corner, he was suddenly struck on the head. Blows were rained on his head and face, and he remembered little more until he was discovered by two men about half an hour later in an obviously distressed condition, staggering from side to side in Lome street. He was given first aid treatment at the ambulance station and sent to the hospital.
