RUGBY CONTROL
WAIROA SUB-UNION ROSS SHIELD TOURNAMENT DRAW ANNOUNCED (Special to the I Jerald.) WAIROA, this day. Reporting on the junior fixture, Nuhaka v. Waipapa at Lambton Square last Saturday, the Referees’ Association's delegate on the Wairoa County Rugby Sub-Union, Mr. M. G. MacKny, stated, at a meeting of the management committee last evening, that the referee of the fixture, Mr. R. E. Lunnv, had to order a Waipapa player oif the field for allegedly hitting another player after having been cautioned twice. It was decided that the offender should be stood down for two playing Saturdays. Ross Shield Arrangements in connection with the Ross Shield competition were completed, the secretary, Mr. W. G. Brownlie, reporting that five teams would be competing, Napier, Hastings, Dannevirke, Central Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa. It was reported that 7(1 billets had been arranged for the visiting players, and several more had been promised, which would complete the quota.
