RUGBY IN WAIROA
MATCH WITH HASTINGS FIXTURE ON SATURDAY STRONG VISITING SIDE (Special to the Herald.) HASTINGS, this day. In return for the fixture played in Hastings last season, a team from Hastings will travel to Wairoa lo play the Wairoa representatives next Saturday. With a view to upsetting Wairoa’s strong representative record this season, a very strong team is to be sent from Hastings and the following Hastings players have been selected for training:— R. Joll, E. Bligh, R. Stanford (Havelock North), L. McCarthy, E. Garnett, H. K. Thompson, D. Thompson, J. Kirkley, T. Mulligan, W. G. Palmer (Hastings H. 5.0.8.)- V. Halligan, T. Tomoana, J. Allsopp, L. Hannigan, T. Chadwick (Celtic), J. Stewart, B. Riddell, L. Wilson, D. McDonald (Hastings Club), T. Waretini, and W. Mataira (M.A.C.)
This team contains Hawke’s Bay representatives in McCarthy, Garnett, Palmer and Hannigan, and a former Poverty Bay representative player in D. Thompson, the H. 5.0.8. forward.
