SCHOOL COMMITTEE
(Herald Correspondent.)
The monthly meeting of the Bartlet, ts School Committee was held recently, those present being Messrs. T. Walters, chairman, , K. Muir, Matenga, J. J. McCoach and D. Rodgers. The headmaster, Mr. L. C. Ching, was also ia attendance. After some discussion it was decided to hold the children’s fancy dress ball during the next term, the ac.ual dale to be decided at the next monthly meeting. It was considered undesirable to hold such a function during the chid and uncertain weather.
A final drive is to be made towards procuring the balance rcguired to meet the cost of the insinuation of the school radio set. The school grounds are to be further improved in the near future by means of tree planting.
Mr W. Havden. who has been a popular member of the stores branch of the Public Works DeuartmeiU for the past 12 months, has received notice of his transfer to the Gisborne Office. While a resident of Bartletts Mr. Hayden has been a keen member of the Maraetaha Golf Club, and was the club’s lowest handicap player. He was also a member of the tennis club.
Mrs. Rvan, accompanied by her son. Mr. B. Ryan, motored to Napier on Monday on a brief visit. —Mrs. C. Mori has returned to Bartletts after spending a few davs as the guest of her sister, Mrs. R. McKinlcv, Gisborne.—Mr. and Mrs. Briffault’s son. Bryce, is an inmate of the Cook Hospital, wherf’ he underwent an Operation last Thursday.
