Mr. S. Wildish, deputy superintendent of the Gisborne Fire Brigade, left by ’plane this morning for Wellington to attend the annual gathering of the British Institution of Fire Engineers. Dr. P. P. Lynch has retired from the position of honorary secretary of the Wellington Division of the Cancer Campaign Society, after having held Ihe position for 10 years. He has been replaced by Dr. <K. B. Bridge. The resignation of Miss ( D. M. Arthur, lady principal of the Napier Girls’ High School since 1926, has been tendered to the Napier Secondary Education Board. Miss Arthur is acting on medical advice, her health having been affected during the past few years. The chairman, Mr. C. V. Chamberlain, and) the secretary, Mr. B. G. Sign all, will represent the Wairoa Electric-Power Board at the EleetnicPower Boards and Supply Authorities' Association’s conference lo be held in Wellington on September 14 and\ls. .Mr. Signal! also will attend' the -secretaries’ conference, and 1 the engineer, Mr. C. J. P. Drewitt, will attend the engineers' conference.— Special. Mr. S. Freeman, organising secretary for the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs, was expected to arrive at Gisborne this afternoon- to meet clubs in the district. In company with Mr. E. M. Bates, Poverty Bay district secretary, Mr. Freeman will visit Tolaga Bay this 'evening, Matawnl to-mor-row, and will meet the district committee on Thursday afternoon. On Thursday evening lie will meet the Gisborne club, and will conclude liis tour in Te Kara lea on Friday. Mr. Freeman will have with him a -talking film dealing with the young farmers’ club movement.
