Price of Petrol
Sir, —Mr. iHultquist is to be congratulated on his attempt to seek a universal price lor petrol throughout the Dominion, and it is to toe hoped that local governing bodies and others,‘irrespective of political opinion, will add their weight to this attempt at a long* looked-for adjustment. If necessary this adjustment could take the form of charging the average freight cost of all petrol on to every gallon irrespective of where sold, Failing this, then the whole of the tax should toe levied inversely proportionately to the retail price paid, i.e., the higher the retail cost, the lower the tax. LEN HOARE.
