OUTSIZE IN SHEEP
Three pens of crossbred wethers of immense size were sold at the Flemington saleyards, Sydney, a few days ago, and attracted much attention from agents, operators, and visitors from the country. They were said to be the biggest sheep offered at the saleyards for some years, and were estimated to go well over 1001 b. live weight each. Two or three resembled small vealers, and some operators said these would weigh up to 2001 b. on the hoof.
The sheep, which had a strain of Romney and Leicester, came from a district on the western side of the Blue Mountains.
Most of the carcase butchers did not bid, frankly stating that the sheep were altogether too heavy for the ordinary trade. The top wethers brought 20s 8d; others realised about 19s. /
