POSSESSION OF HOUSE

BREACH OF RENTS ACT A fine ,of £5 and costs was imposed on Leo Norman Rust, fruiterer. Hamilton. by Mr. S. L. Paterson. S.M., in the Hamilton Police Court for a’ breach of the Fair Rents Act. It was stated by the Labour Department that .defendant secured possession of his house in Galloway street, Hamilton East, cm the ground.-?'that if was required for ins own personal occupation, and then permitted another tenant to occupy the holtse-.within six months. It was stated for defendant that the house was required so that p,list’s brother, who was coming from Australia, might live with him. The brother was unable to come and the tenant was told he might remain. The magistrate said he was not satisfied that defendant had wanted'the house for his own use.
