EARL McCREADY WINS

HARD BOUT WITH COX ONLY FALL OF MATCH (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Gruelling rather than, spectacular wrestling in the Wellington Town Hall last night resulted in Earl McCready, the British Empire champion, beating Ted Cox by a single fall taken with a step-over toehold in the fifth round. McCready was in better form than when last he wrestled in Wellington, but even so his matchcraft lacked brilliance, contrasted with Cox’s irile rough-housing. The referee was kept busy endeavouring to persuade Cox to observe the rules customary in the Dominion. Cox made free use of fists and teeth to the entertainment of the large crowd.
