BEER PRICES RAISED
CHRISTCHURCH CHARGES i " NO MORE “SHOUTING” (Pur Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A special meeting of the Canterbury Licensed Victuallers’ Association this morning revised the beer prices in hotels to meet the increased tax on beer provided for in the recent Budget. The increase was (id ‘a gallon, and is to be handed on to the hotel keepers by the breweries.
To meet the increased costs, members of the association to-day decided upon the .following revised charges: All beer (id a glass; draught beer 5s a gallon, instead of 4s (id; square riggers Is fid instead of Is 3d; bottle of beer, quarts, Is Gd instead of Is 3d and 15s a dozen. There will be no more "shouting” but counter lunch will be retained. The new scale of charges will operate on Wednesday.
