SNOW BLOCKS ROADS
CENTRAL OTAGO AREAS STOCK LOSSES HEAVY (Per Pre 3S Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Dunedin got no more than a flick of the tail of the snowstorm which swept the province last evening. There was a quick thaw under the sunshine this morning and no traffic stoppages occurred. The Maniototo area of Central Otago has suffered' badly, all roads being blocked. It is known that at least three cars were abandoned on the Ranfurly-Wedderburn road. Watpori had a fresh fall. Settlers here have been snowbound- for six weeks. Sheep losses are expected to be heavy for many have been under snow for six weeks and the frozen surface has- cut off the air supply.
