DESIRE OF ROOSEVELT

MORE THAN LIP SERVICE

WARNING TO DEMOCRATS

(Reed. August 12, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 11

A report from Pittsburgh states that President Roosevelt, addressing Young Democrat Club members today, served notice that the party need expect no support from. him during the campaign if it nominated a Conservative president, or one who gave merely lip service to his policies.

This is interpreted to mean that Mr, Roosevelt is determined to reject any compromise with the Conservative Democrat bloc and is either running for a third term or supporting a candidacy of his own selection.
