AID TO WHEATGROWERS

PRICE STABILISATION PLAN VICTORIA OBJECTIONS (Reed. Aug. H, 2..30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Aug. 11. It is explained that the plan for a stabilised price for wheat which the Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Menzies, submitted to the Premiers’ conference yesterday was to ensure an average return to wheatgrowers of 3s 4d a bushel on a marketable crop of 140,000,000 bushels. The conference adjourned late last night without having reached agreement, mainly because of the opposition of the Premier of Victoria, Mr. A. A. Du ns tan, to the States sharing in the financing of the scheme._ . It was expected that his opposition would cause a breakdown of the conference to-day.
