FAREWELL PARTY CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL (Herald Correspondent.) A jolly evening was spent at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. G. Tombleson, Tahaenui, on Monday, when members of the Nuhaka subbranch of the Plunket Society and (a few intimate friends- entertained Nurse Grant, who is leaving shortly for Christchurch. Table tennis, mah jeng and card games were enthusiastically played, Mrs. Tombleson and Mrs. Brewster acting as hostesses. During the evening Mrs. J. Powdrell, president of the Nuhaka Plunket Society, made a presentation to Nurse Grant, as a token of the esteem in which she was held by the society. Nurse Grant suitably replied. A delectable supper was served by the hostesses.

Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Brewster, Mr. and Mrs. R. Steed, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Millar, Mr. and" Mrs. Berry, Mr. and Mrs. J. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. W. Houston, Mrs-. J. Powdrell, Mrs. M. Ryan, Mrs. W. Nepia, Miss North, Nurse Watson, Miss I. McKenzie, Miss M. Berry, and Mr. S. Crystal. Centennial Meeting At a meeting representative of most of the schools in the district, held in the Nuhaka Native School, Mr. H. Taylor, Kopuawhara, occupied the chair. The centennal memorial was- fully discussed, after which it was decided that perhaps the construction of a dental clinic at Nuhaka was a trifle ambitious and it was agreed that a mobile dental clinic would be more appropriate. Mr. A. Hickling ip- in training with 'the East Coast .Mounted Rifles at Trcntham.—Mr. Paul McLean is a patient in the Wairoa Hospital. • The rainfall at Nuhaka last month totalled 8.49 in., compared with 18.2 in. for July, 1938. The total for the first seven months of 1939 is 22.74 in., as against 75.75 in. for the corresponding period last year.
