R ROEN T OUT Y I XCRE ASE The question of apportioning the increase of Gd a gallon in the beer duty is at present the subject of discussions between representatives of Auckland brewing firms.* With no decision yet reached, there has been no change in the retail prices, but it was suggested when the higher duty was, announced last week that, the manufacturers would not be prepared lo carry the new impost on account of the burden of higher wages, dearer materials ar.d other increased costs.
