Conscience Money
Conscience money was received in unusual circumstances by a Ponsonby, Auckland, tobacconist. Placing one and sixpence on the counter, a youth exclaimed, ’This- is for the cigarettes I ‘pinched’ two years ago.” He explained 1 that he had 1 found the shop unattended and had reached over to the shelves to help himself. “I am older now and I have more sense,” he said.
