SALVAGE EXPERT ARRIVES

PORT BOWEN OPERATIONS ASSISTANCE IN W< ‘IK (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. To assist in salvaging the stranded Port Bowen, Captain «J. Herd, Brisbane, representing the London Salvage Association, arrived by the Awatea to-day. Captain Herd has had wide experience and has visited many wrecks on the Australian coast and as far away as New Caledonia. In an interview, Captain Herd said the London Salvage Association represented all parties with an interest in the vessel or the cargo. It was a practice for all parties to assign their interests to the association so that salvage operations and the protection ol the various rights involved could he centralised.
