DEER DESTRUCTION

NIGHT SHOOTING PLAN NEW METHOD UNDER TEST ‘‘Night shooling is likely to be a means of deer destruction to be adopted by officers of the Internal Affairs Department in the coming season, and tests of shooting by lamp lights have been made,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, in Wellington. “The campaign to destroy deer would be continued witli greater determination.” Mr. Parry said that as time went on the campaign took different forms, which were determined by the knowledge gained by those carrying out the campaign. It was being proved that more skill was required by the destroyers as the campaign intensified. The more they were hunted the more cunning the deer became, and they perpetually challenged the skill of the destroyers. One of the main requirements of the shooters was that they should be able to shoot and kill when the deer were on the run.
