An explosion on the premises of the Miscellaneous Disposals Syndicate. a Government contracting firm, at Holland Park, which was unoccupied during the week-end. blew out sliding do'ors and filled the street with smoke and shattered glass, and set fire to the stock room.

A man was reported to have been seen earlier hastily motoring from the scene.

Residents, in escaping from adjacent buildings, effectively used airraid masks. Firemen quenched the fire from neighbouring roofs.
