OFFICERS APPOINTED

AXXUAL VEETING lIELD (Herald Correspondent.! The annual meeting of the Nuhaica A. and P. Society was held last week, those present being Mr. 11. R. Hickling, president; Mr. B. Richardson, vice-president; Messrs. R. Gilmore, D. Hughes, S. Jones, F. Jameson, R. McIntyre, J. G. Mclntyre. J. Pomana, G. B. Steele, J. Small, H. Schwass. K. Stewart, F. 11. Young, and P. JBrewster, secretary.

Prior to the business the president moved a vote of condolence with the relatives of the late (Mr. R. C. Sturm, life member, and Dr. B. Mitfovd, an honorary surgeon of the society. The society, he said, had sustained a great loss in the passing of Mr. Sturm, who had been a lower of strength and would be greatly missed.

The secretary, who associated himself with the president’s remarks, expressed his regret in the loss of Mr. Sturm, whom, he said, was not only a life member but one of the foundation members of the society—one whom they could remember as a solid and model member.

The balance sheet and chairman’s report, already published, were adopted.

The retiring president, Mr. Hickling, thanked the vice-president and committee for their great help and co-operation during his term of office. He hoped that more members would be enrolled. Officers Elected The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. B. Richardson; vicepresident, Mr. F. H. Young; hon. auditor, Mr. K. B .Crombic; hon. surgeons, Drs. Hallwright, Jardine, Ross, and Debden-Wilkins, and the district nurse; committee, Messrs. E. A. Bullmore, K. B. Crombie, R. Gilmore, A. T. Glenny, D. Hughes, F. Jameson, S. Jones, J. Small, K. Stewart, M. R. Shaw, G. B. Steele, R. Mclntyre, J. G. Mclntyre, T. Nepia, IT. Pomana, W. Tait, G. 'D. Tod and B. Taka.

Last year’s reception and protest committees were re-elected. The senior stewards were appointed as under: —Saddle and harness horses, Mr. F. H. Young; competitions, Mr. G. D. Tod; flock sheep, Mr. J. Taylor; fat sheep, Mr. H. Whitmore; dairy cattle and pigs, Mr. C. Sturm; dogs, Mr. D. Hughes; dog trial, Opoho Collie Club; vegetables and fruit, Mr. B. Taka; flowers, Mr. C. Nepia; cooking. Mrs. M. Ryan: class tickets, Mr. .1. G. Mclntyre; vehicle control, Mr. 11. Pomana; weights and measures. Mr. R. Gilmore; late entries, Mr. rT. R. Hickling; side-shows, Mr. M. R. Shaw; parade marshal, Mr. G. D. Tod.

The schedule for the 1940 Show was revised and a few slight alterations made.

The vegetable, fruit and cooking classes, which had been revised by a ladies’ committee, were adopted.

Votes of thanks to Mr. W. Torbett, who has signified his intention of renewing the Star X Cup, to the ladies’ committee, and do Messrs. K. Stewart and R. Gilmore were carried. It was decided to hold o working bee this week.
