DECISIVE VICTORY

TARANAKI SUPERIORITY

HAWKE’S BAY GOES DOWN (Pur Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Taranaki scored a decisive win against .Hawke's Bay in a representative Rugby match on Saturday by 18 points to 3. The Hawke’s Bay pack was outplayed and the Taranaki backs followed up the good work of the forwards with slashing movements. Though Hawke’s Bay was without Bowman, Reid and Jackson, the forwards substantially outweighted Taranaki, but a virile performance was given by the home pack'in the loose and line-outs. The only aspect in which Hawke’s Bay had the advantage was in the set scrums. With Killeen and Sullivan in brilliant form, the Taranaki backs gradually established superiority, which became more marked as the game progressed. The scorers J'or Taranaki were lVlueLean and Sullivan, two tries each. Johns three conversions, and for Hawke’s Bay, Lockwood, a try.
