WIN FOR GREEN CAPE

(Reed. August 7, 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August G. The chief events at Pie Victoria Amateur Turf Club’s meeting at Caulfield on Saturday resulted as follow:

Australian Hurdles, of £1500; 3' miles and 20yds.—Green Cape. 11.2 (Dunn-nett). 1; Bridge of Dee. 9.1 (Venn). 2; Terkn. 9.0 (Jennings). 3. Cape Race and Grey Lash were scratched. Seven started. Wongawill, Terka and Green Cape opened up a good gap from the rest of the field. Mac Devon fell. Cheery Jock blundered and badly lost ground. Restford tailed the field. Green Cape took charge at the six furlongs post and won comfortably by three lengths and a half, with Terka 13 lengths away, third. Then, after a long interval, came Cheery Jack, Restford, and Wongawill. Time, 0.101.

clock) schooled over six hurdles. Pink Robe ran off at the second but otherwise gave a good exhibition. Araboa (T. J. Boyie) went well over four hurdles, and Silk Sox (J. Told) and Disturbed (J. McLaughton) gave an excellent exhibition over eight hurdles at a sound pace all the way. Colonel French (T. Boyle) and Aussie Ra (A. E. Lord) were together all the way over six hurdles. Both jumped well.

The SancKvichman met with a slight mishap when schooling a few clays ago and his programme for the next week is uncertain.
