SCANDINAVIAN NATIONS ATTITUDE OF BRITAIN (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 ‘a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 3. In the House of Commons yesterday the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. R. A. Butler, was asked if his attention had Ibeeo. drawn to a speech on Saturday toy the Swedish Foreign Minister, 'M. Sandler, in which he said that Swedish interests would be seriously .affected if agreements were arrived at by the great Powers which conflicted 'with the avowed principle of the northern countries '.not, to let themselves toe the objects of combinations in Power politics, and if Mr. Butler 'would bear this Swedish attitude in mind when considering the conclusion of the Anglo-Soviet pact, in addition to the views already expressed by the representatives of Finland and other 'Baltic States. Mr. Butler replied that he had seer reports on the subject. He added: “As the House has already been informed. Britain is taking into account the view? -'id interests of other States. I may add that there is no question of imoosing a guarantee on these States: or making them the object of combinations in Power politics. But, as has become apparent in the course of the present negotiations, the violation of the independence or the neutrality of any one of these States would foe a matter of vital interest to the three Governments concerned,”
