The second largest telescope in the vcrld was dedicated in the presence .if about 400 scientists at the McDonald Observatory, Mount Locke, Texas. The telescope which lias an 82-ineh mirror, was bought by the University of Texas out oi a fund of 800,000 dollars left to it by a Texas banker Mr. W. J. McDonald.
