DEFEAT OF MAKO
UNKNOWN CALIFORNIAN (Reed. August 2, 2.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 1. The American star, Mako. was surprisingly defeated in the second round Of the Southampton tennis tournament, o—2, 3—o, o—l, by a com paratively unknown Californian, Robert Peacock. Sabin defaulted in the middle of his match with Mulloy and left. the tournament because the committee refused to allow him to wear spikes.
