LEAVING LONDON
NAZI ARISTOCRATS ARRESTS IN PARIS LONDON, July 21. Repercussions of the arrest of alleged Nazi agents in Paris have been felt in London, according to the Daily Herald. It says that seven titled Germans, who have been regular guestat social and political functions, have left for the Continent. Their departure, the paper goes on, coincides with a request from the French Secret Service to Scotland Yard to provide information about their recent activities.
The Daily Herald continues: —‘‘Some of these German aristocrats have lived in London for fixed periods every year and built up influential connections. One woman has been in touch with Nazi headquarters.
“There is nothing illegal in those activities and the British authorities can only watch and request the Germans to leave if they step over the recognised limits.
"Marshal Goering’s younger brother recently made several journeys to Paris, in connection with the propaganda campaign.”
A message from Paris states that the newspaper Le Temps explains that M. Aubin, one of its staff, who has been arrested on a charge of accepting bribes from Germany, was only its “home” news editor, and was not concerned with foreign or political affairs.
According to the News Chronicle’s Paris correspondent, Nazi agents there are alleged to be working on behalf of the German Foreign Affairs and Propaganda Ministries, and the latter’s agents were attempting to secure control of a large cinema organisation.
