HERD TESTING

WAIROA BODY DISBANDS FINANCIALLY SOUND AiIALGAVIATION SCHEME (Special to the IToraM.) WAIROA, this day. ‘•ln. handing over our little nest egg to .the Government scheme we have every reason to toe proud of our efforts.’’ These remarks were made toy the chairman of the Wairoa County Group Herd Testing Association, Mr. A. T. Carroll, at the annual meeting on Saturday, when it was decided that the association, should disbanc and amalgamate with the Bay 0.l Plenty Herd Improvement Association.

It was decided that the .assets and liabilities should toe transferred to die Bay ot Plenty Herd Improvemen Association., and that 'the association be written to with a request that the Wairoa branch be allowed to retail* its former plant for .the purpose of development in the district of herd testing work. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £sl 6s 6d.

In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman istated that it was verv satisfactory that while transferring they were at the same time finishing up ora the right side of the ledger.

“The sum total of all our efforts' is that we finished up very financially,” said Mr. Carroll, who added that he thought the amalgamation of the associations was definitely the right s and to take. Those who desired to continue testing, in his opinion, would find the new scheme adequate. The only way to better the movement was to fail in line with the other larger associations.

"We are still prejudiced against •any out and out Government scheme,” stated Mr. Cart-oil, but he thought that coats would' be kept down, which wouid make the movement successful for those wishing to test. The chairman congratulated Mr. A. R. Young, the owner of the highest herd.

The secretary, Mrs. K. G. Watson, presented Mr. Young with a handsome crystal bowl.

Votes of appreciation were passed 'o the secretary and l the chairman of the association for their willing work during their term of office.
