ROSE BOWL GAME Maltaki nil Hincnui nil The hockey match in Gisborne' on Saturday between Maliaki and Hinenui, besides ‘ being an ordinary club game, was an elimination match for tile Haapu Rose Bowl. Honours were even in territorial advantage, and both teams failed to score. Hinenui being denied a win for the first time this season. Both teams had a splendid defence, Mrs. Wilson, the Hinenui full-back, together with Mrs. Pere, the goalkeeper, putting up particularly good performances Miss Wyllie was right on her game in the centre-half position Misses Karepa and Toroa were the most prominent of the forwards, who, however, did not combine so well as on previous occasions. Miss Kapuaroa was the strongest iv the Mahaki defence, and got through some splendid work. Miss Tuhoe was back in her old position at centrehalf, and showed something of he” + rue form, giving one of her best exhibitions for the season to date. LAST SECOND DRAW Te Karaka .. 1 goal Kia Toa 1 By scoring a goal just as the bell rang full time, Kia Toa drew with Te Karaka in a fast and interesting game in the women’s A grade on Saturday. Te Karaka had the better of the opening stages, and in the first five minutes Miss T. Ruru scored from a scramble in the circle. Play fluctuated up and down the field for the remainder of the game, and just as the timekeeper was getting ready to ring the bell Mrs. Le Bas broke away. After a long run she .beat the goalkeeper and the bell to score the equaliser.
