PENSIONS INVESTIGATION
INTENTION IN BRITAIN (Reed. July 29, 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 28. The House of Commons after a stormy debate yesterday approved by 357 votes to 164 of the Government's decision to investigate without delay the question of higher old-age pensions. The Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, pointed out that the House Of Commons had not yet fully realised the burden of defence. The Government, he said, would not light-heartedly add further to the load.
