HOPES OF JOHN COBB TRAVELLING TO UTAH (Reed. July 29. 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 28. The racing motorist, Mr. _ John Cobb, is proceeding to America tomorrow to make an attempt on the world land speed record at Utah in August. I-Ie hopes to attain a speed of 400 miles an hour. The present land speed record, 359.40 miles an hour, was established by the British motorist, Captain G. E. T. Eyston, in his car, “Thunderbolt,” at Bonneville F'ats, Utah, on August 27, 1938. On September 15 1938. Mr. John Cobb established the second fastest time of 350.20 miles an hour.
