OBJECTION IN HOUSE

CIVIL SERVANT’S POST . COMPANY GUARANTOR (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. A statement was made in the House of Representatives last night by Mr. H. S. S. Kyle (Nat., Riccarton), that an administrative officer of State drawing £2OOO a yea r to direct the marketing of eggs was receiving £566 a , year as a guarantor of a Christchurch company. He considered that such an officer should not occupy dual positions. In making the statement with full responsibility, he demanded an investigation by the Government. This officer, he said, had attended the annual meetings of the company because he was a guarantor. For two years his name had been mentioned as a guarantor, but now it was being omitted. They were trying to organise a store in Christchurch where eggs would be collected and forwarded to Wellington for sale. Two directors of this company were also on the Poultry Board and one had only recently been nominated by the Government.

“One wondered why the Socialist Government should make this nomination,” he added, “but now the cat is out of the bag. There is a very sinister inference there with this nomination on the Poultry Board and I want the Government to look carefully into it. lam making a charge and there should be an investigation.”
