CLOSING QUOTATIONS ALL CROSSBREDS IMPROVE UP TO LID HIGHER The London wool sales closed on Weanesuay with a strong tone and with values for all crossbreds higher than at the end of the previous series, the improvement being up to lid for medium and coarse sorts, both for greasy and scoured fleece. There was very little variation m the quotations for crossbred and halfbreds, the range given in one of the reports received being from lljd tu 12id. The only variation in the entire range of quotations was in regard to Merinos, super going to 15d and inferior down to 9d. The Gisborne Shccpfarmers' Frozen Meat and Mercantile Company, Limited, have received advice from London that the fourth series of wool sales finished on Wednesday. As compared with the closing rates of the May series, prices were:—Greasy Merinos.—Super, 7A per cent up: medium to good, 5 to 7 A per cent up: inferior to medium, 5 to 71 per eeih up. Scoured Merinos. —Super, par to 5 per cent down; medium to good, pa>' to 5 per cent down; inferior to medium, unchanged. Greasy crossbreds. —Simer. 7i per cent up; medium to good, 10 per cent up; inferior to medium, 10 per cent up. Scoured crossbreds.—Super, 71 per cent up; medium to good, 5 per cent up; inferior to medium, 5 per cent up. Slipes.—All, 5 per cent up. The total sold was 76,000 bales, tire home trade taking 55,000 bales ,the Continent 21,000 bales, and America nil. A total of 39,000 bales was carried forward. The Bank of New Zealand advises the receipt of the following cabled advice from London under date of July 26; —“The wool sales have closed very firm, and prospects are good.” Current quotations for good average conditions: Greasy Merinos, 60/64’s. Super, 141 d to 15d; ordinary, llld to 12Jd; inferior, 9d to lOld. Greasy halfbreds. —56/58’s, llld to 121 d; sG’s, llld to 12<d ; 50/56’s, llld to l2Jd. Greasy crossbreds.—so’s, lljd to 12,'d; 48/50 s, 11 Ad to 12Ad; 46/48’is, 11.'.d to Lfcid: 44/46’s, 11!,d to 12!,d; 40/44’s, llld to 12.1 d ; 36/40’s, 1-1 J-d to 12id. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cabled advice from London, dated July 2G; — “The fourth series of wool sales closed to-day, Yorkshire being the chief buyers, taking 60,000 bales. There were 98,400 bales offered and 84,000 bales sold. The prices as compared with the preceding series ruled Id higher for super greasy Merinos, fine greasy crossbreds and fine scoured crossbreds; Id to lid higher for medium greasy crossbreds, coarse greasy crossbreds, medium scoured crossbreds, and coarse scoured crossbreds: Ad higher for inferior greasy Merinos and fine 50/56’s slipe; Ad to P,d higher for lambs’ combing, medium (46/48’M crossbred slipe combings, and 40/44’s crossbred slipe combings; par to Id htsrher for lambs, Merino and crossbred.” _ Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Company, Limited, are in receipt of the following cabled advice from London: “The wool sales closed firm. Competition was good. Bradford were the principal buyers, the Continent operating moderately. Compared with the last closing rates, greasy fine crossbred advanced 5 to 71 per cent; medium and coarse, 15 per cent; scoured and slipe, 7A per cent.”

Messrs, Dalgeity and Company Limited have received the following cable message from London dated July -26:—“The London wool sales closed with good competition, the home trade being the .principal operators, especially for crossbred, with good support from the Continent for greasy Merino. As compared with the closing rates of last series, greasy Merino is Ad to Id higher; scoured Merino is unchanged; greasy halfbred is id to 3d higher; greasy crossbred, fine, 3d to Id higher; greasy crossbred, medium and coarse, Id to lid higher; scoured halfbred, par to Id higher; scoured crossbred, 3d to Id higher; slipes, combing, id to 3d higher, clothing unchanged; greasy crossbred lambs, unchanged. The range iof prices is as follows: —Merino, good to super,'to .13d, low to medium Bid to 12id; halfbred. 56/58’s, good t° super 12cl Ito 13id, low to medium 10d to llld; haWbred, 50/56’s, good to super 12d~ to 12|d, low to medium lOd to llld; fine crossbred, 48/50’s, good to super 12d to 123 d, lo.w to medium :o>d to 113 d; fine crossbred, 46/48’s, good to Super 12Jd to- 12.3 d, low to medium lOd to 113 d; crossbred, 44/46’s, rood 110 sune.r 1,2 d to 12ld, low to medium 10d ; lo llid; crossbred, 44's, good to super 113d 1 to 12d, low to medium 9.3 d to* Hid; coarse crossbred, 3G/40’s, good to super 113 d to ’2d, medium to good 9.3 dto llld. Quotations for 40/44’s and 3G/40’s are only nominal.”
