TE KARAKA TEAMS’ GAMES VISITS WITH OPOTIKI (ihirnld Correspondent.) 'Football and basketball teams representing the secondary department : of the Te Karaka District High School visited Opotiki last. Saturday lo ineet representatives of the Opotiki District High School. The trip was m'ade by bus and the players spent an enjoyable day, being hospitably entertained 'by Opotiki residents. Though the local footballers were beaten, iplay was much more even than was indicated by the final score of 34-G. In the basketball match Opotiki scored 25 points against Te Kanaka’s six points. Here again there was good even play, tout the Te Karaka centres were 'outclassed toy their opponents. Arrangements are toeing made 'for a basketball match between Te Karaka and IGi'sib’orne High Schools, to be played in Te K'araka next Saturday. Huia v. Te Karaka During the week-end representatives of the Huia football and basketball clubs, Opotiki, visited Te Karaka to play matches against the local clubs. The visitors, who were entertained by the Matoris 'Ft Takipu, fielded junior and senior football teams before a go'od crowd o'f spectators. Hui'a players proved superior in each instance, the junior match controlled by Mr. S. Jones finishing with a score of 12-0 in favour of Huia. In the senior game the home team sc'ored six points, against the visitors’ total of 13 points. The referee was Mr. A. Tr erne wan.
The basketball contest was more even, the final score, being 11-10 in favour of the visitors.
