15 YEARS WITH OLD BOYS SCORED OVER 1000 POINTS By "Four-Forty” Regular followers of Rugby on the Oval for a number of years will learn with regret that Old Boys’ popular forward, Archie Campbell, has decided to “hang” up his football togs lor good, after having been a member oi the club for 15 years. Before this season commenced, Campbell informed the writer that he would not play, as he intended to take up road cycle racing again, but as he Amateur Club diet not start with their winter programme Archie was again persuaded to turn out for his old club. He once again proved to be one of- their best men, but of recent weeks the golf bug has got him, and he now spends his leisure moments on the Park links. A Good Record Campbell started his long career as a footballer while a pupil of the Makaraka School, and in 1925 he was a member of tire Old Boys fourth grade team, and scored 40 points. His record since then is:— 1926. —Old Boys, fourth grade, 48p!s. 1927. Old Boys, third grade, and r.co-cap tain of the Poverty Bay third grade representatives, 72pts, 1924. —Old Boys, third grade, and Captain and vice-captain of the representative team, 50pts. 1929. —Old Boys juniors and a member of the Poverty Bay representative team, 22pts. 1930. —Old Boys juniors and representative team, 61pts.
1931. Old Boys juniors, Poverty Bav representative, and selector of the Country team, 17Spts. 1932. —Old Boys seniors and Poverty Bay representative, also selector of the Country team, 89pts. 1933. —old Boys seniors and PovertyBay representative, 91pts.
1934. —old Boys seniors and Poverty Bay representative, 33pts. 1935 —old Boys seniors and Poverty Bay representative, 98pts. 1936. —Old Boys seniors and Poverty Bay representative, 141pts. 1937__01d Boys seniors and representative, 52pts. 1938. —Old Boys seniors and representative, 45 points. 1939. Boys seniors, scored 18 points. Campbell has been a member of the Old Boys Football Club management committee for four years.
