RUGBY TREAT FOR WAIROA i j 3 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. j Wairoa is to be given a feast ol | representative Rugby next month, | representatives games having been arranged for three consecutive Saturdays. On August 5 Poverty Bay will visit Wairoa in an endeavour to lift the Barry Cup, while for August 12 Waitoa has accepted a challenge from the East Coast union. On August 19 a further representative fixture will take place, against the Hastings subunion. Arrangements for these matches were completed at a meeting of the management committee of the Wairoa County Rugby Sub-Union this week. It was decided to send the junior representatives to Gisborne on August 5 to meet Poverty Bay, and the Wairoa team will be selected on Saturday. Permission was granted the Athletic third grade team to play Old Boys thirds, Gisborne, for the Owen Cup, the match to be the curtain-raiser to the Barry Cup fixture against Poverty Bay on August 5. The curtain-raiser to the East Coast fixture on August 12 will be Athletic iuniors v. Old Boys, Gisborne, juniors, while the curtain-raiser to the Hastings v. Wairoa match on the following Saturday will be the Wairoa Ross Shield Primary Schools’ team versus a .picked team from the High §chool. A protest, was received from the High School club concerning the third grade match High School v. Y.M.P. last Saturday. It was claimed that the Y.M.P. team comprised a number of Nuhaka club members. The subunion decided to .hold the question over until more information was obtainable. Fixtures for Saturday The following fixtures were announced for to-morrow: — Seniors.—Athletic v. Nuhaka, on Wairoa No. 1 ground, 2.45 p.m. Juniors.—Nuhaka v. Athletic, on Wairoa No. 1 ground, 1.30 p.m.; Waikaremoana v. Waipapa, on Wairoa No, ,2 ground, 2.45 p.m. ; Y.M.P., a bye. Thirds.—High School v. Athletic, on Wairoa No. 2 ground, 1.30 p.m. G. Dods; Mrs. Atcheson v. Miss C. Doherty; Mrs. Menzies v. Mrs. Scannell; Mrs. Bull v. Mrs. Monteith; Mrs Atkins v. Miss Speight; Miss Mills v. Miss McCullough; Mrs. L. Smith v. Mrs. Waddell; Miss Renner, a bye. Men.—R. Sirl v. F. Smith; F. Wickens v. R. Bull; H. Collett v. P Bolland; A. Broadhurst v H. Kenneway; L. Grey v. H. White; N. Gordon v. S. McNaughton; the winner of Grey v. White plays the winner of Gordon v. McNaughton; J. Sefton v. F. Haibgood; B. Jackson v. R. Williams; A. Waddell v. P. Scammel).
