MAORI’S ROUGH TRIP
RANGITATA HOVE-TO STORM IN WELLINGTON (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Owing to delay in her departure from Lyttelton last night, the Maori arrived to-day two hours late. There were four or five inches of snow on the deck and the wharf when she left port. The vessel had a rough trip. The Rangitata, from London, sent a wireless message to-day stating that she is practically hove-to off Cape Palliser and her time of arrival is doubtful. The Kaitoa left Wellington for Nelson last night, but was forced to return owing to the rough weather. Accompanied by a cold southerly, mow fell in Wellington city last night but it thawed as it fell. In the higher suburbs and on the ranges, however, there were large patches this morning. The snowfall in Upper Hutt is stated by old residents to be the most evere ever experienced. There are several inches of snow over the level parts of the valley.
