NUHAKA SHOW SOCIETY
SATISFACTORY POSITION iir/m ANNUAL REPORT (Hernl.l Correspondent.? s The report of the president, Mr. IT. R. Hick ling, to be presented to the thirty-fifth annual meeting of the Nuhaka A. and P. Society on August 3. shows a satisfactory financial position. The year finished with a profit of £l2 11s, after making provision for depreciation to the extent of £'2s 8s Gd and flood damage costing £l6 Bs.
Entries and gate-takings at the last -how were exceptionally good, and it was hoped that the -position would be maintained in the future. Many hurdles had to be made at the last moment to accommodate the large number of .stock exhibits. An innovation was the installation of a sound system to make public announcements, which were of great help to officials and the public, and also for he purpose of entertainment.
Unfortunately, death took its toll of members during the year, including Messrs. J. Austin and J. B. Macdonald, the former being a past president and life member who did a great deal of work for the society. In addition, Dr. B. Milford, an honorary member, also died during the year. Since the elc-se-of the year, Mr. R. C. Sturm Pod died. Mr. Sturm was a great en-
husiast for tree planting, and many in the showground will stand to his memory.
Tile society’s membership stood at 150 subscribing members and two honorary members, making the same otal as last year. The report con■luded with an expression of thanks o the vicO-president, judges, stewards and the press
