Best costumes: Miss V Gibson,Matawai ('the highwayman), and Mrs. F. Thomas (Pompadour), ’’re’itiest costume: Miss D. Donaldson (Eastern dancer). Most original, lady: Mrs. A. W. Thompson (witch); gentleman, Mr. T. ‘Nolan (nigger). Best costumes worn by institute members: Mrs. W. A. Wright (Janet, from “Pig Aon”), and Mrs. A. E. Leggc (Queen Victoria). Keen interest s being taken in the hill country sc'ho >ls sports and football and basketball nVatches have been played with the object of selecting a representative team to play against a team from the Waikohu schools. This match will be played as a curtainraiser to the big match in Matawai on
August 12. Matches played recently resulted in Moluhora defeating Motu at football, and Mo'iu defeating Motuhor'a at basketball. A combined MotuMotuhora 'football team defeated a combined Matawni-Kornnga seven in Matawai by nine to three.
