HURDLES REVIEW

NATIONAL MEETING f PROBLEM PRESENTED CHARADE’S IMPOST i EARNED TOP WEIGHT By “Trenton" The ’ Grand National Hurdles has attracted a good field and, with so many horses near the minimum that have shown signs of reaching better ! class, the race presents something of j a problem. Charade’s Great Northern perforinlances rightly placed her at the head of affairs. She won the Northern Hurdles, 10.11, and the Remuera Hurdles, two miles, under 11.10. Sire has not i-aced since. Erination will need to improve on Trentham form, and now has 61b. more 'than last year, when he finished fourth in this race. King Rey has an excellent record, and, providing he does not make the same mistake as at Trentham, should be. hard-to beat. He was a good flat i performer. • Travenna won the Sydenham Hurdles last August under 10.4. Survoy has .been raised 41b. on the ve’ght he was .given in the Winter Huiciles at Trentham. Cottingham did not race at Treniham and his work will be watched fioit. now on. as he is a fine hurdler i Peter Beckford may have to be | taker, on trust at the distance, bu he can jump, and there appears to be no leason why he should not see i out. There appears to be seme doub about Agog. He has not startei since the Northern, and it was state that he was having only light work However, he has paid up. Disturbed ran third in the Winter Hurdles, which cost him lib. He ha a good record as a hurdler. Aussie Ra will find a measure of favour through his win last Saturday, but the class was weak. Ellanui has been penalised 41b. for his second in the Winter Hurdles. The remainder will need to improve a good deal. Some that may b< coupled in early selections are:— CHARADE. KING REY, PADISHAH, PETER BECKFORD.
