GENERAL NEWS
INJURIES TO ALL BLACK ENGLISH GOLF STANDARD Last season’s All Black captain, N. A. Mitchell, has had to stand down in several club games in Otago this season on account of injuries. His inability to withstand hard knocks will no doubt prejudice his chances ol being selected for the All Black side to tour South Africa next season, as this tour is regarded as a particularly strenuous one, It will be unfortunate for New Zealand if Mitchell’s condition prevents him from making the trip, as critics who have seen him in action this season state that he is playing as well as ever. * * * * The New Zealand golfer, D. C. Collins, who is in England competing in championship events, stated recently that he would like to see P. Smith, Auckland, J. Hornabrook and B. M. Silk compete in England, as he was sure that they would give a good account of themselves. Collins, Hornabrook and Silk are old boys of Wanganui Collegiate School, and all three are former New Zealand champions. When at school Hornabrook was a valued member of the collegiate cricket eleven and first Rugby fifteen.
