SCOUTS’ CYCLE RELAY
INVERCARGILL-NELSON LONG JOURNEY ENDS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The South Island Boy Scouts’ centennial jamboree cycle relay was completed at Nelson yesterday afternoon. Riding was done only at week-ends, so as not to interfere with school worn. The journey was split into two stages, the first from Invercargill to Christchurch the week-end before last, and the second from Christchurch to Nelson. Starting at Christchurch at (3.45 a.m. on Saturday, tho scouts rode in relays to Kekcrangu, reaching there at 4.5 p m. The messenger was met at Kekcrangu by the first of the Nelson scouts, who took over. The latter reached Blenheim at 8 o’clock on Saturday night, but, instead of proceeding to Nelson, was ’compelled by the weather to remain at Blenheim overnight. The journey was resumed at 9.20 a.m. on Sunday, and the last messenger arrived at Nelson at 2.45 .p.m. The same bicycle was used all the way, the speedometer reading 034 miles.
