HOPES OF SETTLEMENT

MANURE WORKS STRIKE LONG MEETING HELD (Prr Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. An early settlement of the chemical manure workers’ strike is possible, following a long' meeting yesterday of the disputes committee, consisting of representatives of the employees, set up under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act. The Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, presided. The meeting began at 10 a.m., and after the luncheon adjournment resumed in the afternoon. The following statement was issued: "Good progress was made as the outcome of to-day’s deliberations and a settlement is in prospect.”
