COASTAL TRADE The Pool la is expected to complete the discharge of her Westport coal cargo at Gisborne to-day, departing then for Westport. Bluff. Dunedin and Timaru. The Pakura was to commence loading aft Wellington to-day for Napier rad Gisborne. She is expected to leave Wellington to-morrow and should reach Gisborne on Tnursday. The Kopara loads at Portion'd to-day and at Auckland to-morrow for Coast bays, Gisborne and Napier. The ship is due here on Thursday.
The Margaret W. loads at Auckland to-day ana to-morrow for Tokomaru Bay. Tolaga Bay and Gisborne, and discharges at this port cm Thursday.
The Wainui, which is loading for Napier and Gisborne, leaves Bluff today, Dunedin to-morrow. Oamaru and Timaru on Wednesday, Lyttelton on Thursday and Wellington on Saturday. The ship is due here next Monday. The auxiliary scow Altair reached Gisborne on Saturday night with benzine from Auckland. The vessel discharged to-day. She sails later for Auckland. HOMEWARD LOADINGS Gisborne Roadstead Port Dunedin (Port Line; agents, Williams and Kettle, Limited), is expected to arrive at Gisborne next Friday from Auckland to continue loading meat and general cargo for London, and on completion departs for England, via Cape Horn. Karamea (Shaw, Savill; agents, Messrs Dalgety and Company), from Auckland, meat and general cargo at Gisborne on August 14; leaves Wellington August 21 for Lunlon, Avonmouth, Cardiff, Liverpool ind Glasgow, via Cape Hern and Las Palmas. Tokomaru Bay Roadstead Tongariro (Federal Line), from Wellington, loads meat and general jargo for London and West Coast sorts of Britain at Tokomaru Bay August 13-15; leaves Auckland August 22, for London, via Panama. lIAN GIT AT A AND RIMUTAKA The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rangitata, which sailed from London on June 22 for New Zealand, via Panama, is now expected to reach Wellington at 7 a.in. on July 11. The liner Rimutaka, which left Lyttelton on June 27. sailed from Caracas Bay. Curacao, last Thursday and is due at London cm- July 31.
CRUISE LINERS COMING Provisional arrangements have been made for seven cruise liners to visit New Zealand in the coming season, but the number is likely to be augr.ciFed when programmes are advance!!’. Schedules drawn up to date include visits by six liners from Australia. For the first time Auckland will be omitted from the itinerary of one of them. A NEW MOTOR SHIP The fleet of the Australind Steam Shipping Company, of London, managed by Trinder Anderson and Company, which is associated with the New Zealand Shipping Company, will be increased by an order for a Diesel ship from William Denny and Brothers. of Dumbai un, who built cr the line the Australind and Armadale. which are well-known on the New Zealand coast. The new ship will have a deadweight capacity of between 9000 and 10,000 tons. The new contract is the first order placed by the company for 10 years, •although the Scandinavian - built motor ship Kahuna, now eii route from New York to Auckland on her ■first visit here, was placed under the Trinder Anderson flag recently by hei owners, the New Zealand Shipping Company. The new vessel will replace the Ashburton, which was sold o Norwegian owners early in 1937.
