July 22, 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 21. •Most of the county cricket matches in the round which was completed to-day were abandoned on account ol' rain. In one of the few completed games, Yorkshire had a good win over Sussex, Hutton making 177 for the winners and Bowes taking seven wickets for 54 runs.

Gloucester had an outright win against Hampshire in a low-scoring game in which the losers made only 1 69 in two innings. Bowling for Gloucester, Goddard took four wickets for 36 and eight for 36.

Matches commenced on Wednesday resulted as follows: —

Surrey in the first innings had lost 9 wickets for 123 runs, against Glamorgan when the game was abandoned. Lancashire in the first compiled 267 (Washhrook, not out 88: P. Smith, five for 87). Essex, in the first had lost five for 80 when the game was abandoned. .?
