MOST GAMES ABANDONED

July 22, 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 21. •Most of the county cricket matches in the round which was completed to-day were abandoned on account ol' rain. In one of the few completed games, Yorkshire had a good win over Sussex, Hutton making 177 for the winners and Bowes taking seven wickets for 54 runs.
Gloucester had an outright win against Hampshire in a low-scoring game in which the losers made only 1 69 in two innings. Bowling for Gloucester, Goddard took four wickets for 36 and eight for 36.
Matches commenced on Wednesday resulted as follows: —
Surrey in the first innings had lost 9 wickets for 123 runs, against Glamorgan when the game was abandoned. Lancashire in the first compiled 267 (Washhrook, not out 88: P. Smith, five for 87). Essex, in the first had lost five for 80 when the game was abandoned. .? Hampshire in the first made 103 (Scott four for 18, Goddard four for 36) and in the second were out for 66 (Goddard eight for 36). Gloucester in the first lost six for 104 and declared, and in the second lost five for 6G. Gloucester won by five wickets Somerset in the first made 136 (Gunn five for 85), and in the second lost three for 90. Notts in the first made 165. Somerset won on the fii st innings. • ... Warwick in the first made on without loss against Middlesex when the match was abandoned. Derby in the first lost eight for 338 (Smith 132), against Worcester, the game being abandoned. Sussex in the first made 156 (Bowes seven for 54), and in tne second .jl9 (James Langridge, not out, 7DYorkshire’s first strike netted 386 (Hutton 177, Barber 84), and m the second they lost one for 90. Yorkshire won by 10 wickets. Navy in the first lost three for 40 versus Army, the game being abandoned.
