HULK TO BE BEACHED

FORMER FRENCH WARSHIP I USMANTLING PLANNED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The former French man-of-war Eure, which has been used as a hulk at Auckland since 1913, will be beached at Shoal Bay at high spring tide this morning, this being the first step in dragging her high and dry above the waterline for breaking up. The Eure, which was formerly owned by the Northern Steam Ship Company, has been a familiar sight in Auckland’s “Rotten Row” for many years, and was recently sold to Mr. F. Appleton, Newmarket, who will dismantle her. As a result of her long period of idleness at anchor, the Eure has become partly waterlogged and powerful pumps were working yesterday lightening the hulk.
