ORDERS DISOBEYED
GOLFER DROVE OFF During his record round of 09 in the qualifying play of the British open golf championship at St. Andrews. Henry'Cotton resented the stewards telling him when to drive at certain holes. After waiting at one too for nearly five minutes, Colton prepared to drive off when a steward said, "You can’t drive until I signal.” Cotton retorted, “You’d be surprised,” and immediately hit a “whizzer” down the middle of the fairway. Later, when a man attempted to delay his shot, Cotton ordered him from the tee and drove off. Cotton declared that when a player was unnecessarily delayed, he was likely to lose sight of the shot he intended to play.
