Billy Conn, Pittsburgh, won the world’s light heavyweight boxing lmmpionship with a points decision over Melio Bettina, New York, in a la-round bout. It was a closely-fought contest in which the winner came from behind, Bettina seemed to be far superior in the first four rounds, after which the challenger■ made Bettina's taco the target for left jabs. Both fighters staggered each other with hard blows. The referee and adges unanimously picked Conn.
